Experience the Farm in the Spring
April Vacation Program Details
Signs of Spring 2015
SPRING PEEPERS, TOADS & FROGS: Tuesday, April 21 Discover the magic of the farm in spring as we venture to our vernal pool in search of frogs and toads. Although a nocturnal amphibian, being cold blooded they like to warm themselves on rocks by day. Spring peepers should be awaking from their long winters nap to serenade us. Learn to identify a frog and a toad and other difference and similarities between the two. Create a craft and hear a frog story. |
|
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: Wednesday, April 22 Celebrate our environment and make a connection to our natural world this special day and every day! We will start globally and shrink our thoughts and actions down to a local and individual focus. A un-nature scavenger hunt is planned along with a craft fromrecycled materials. Come celebrate with us! SLITHERING SNAKES: Thursday, April 23 Inside we will begin our adventure with a power point interactive show of snakes in New England. Discover not all snakes look alike, eat the same foods or live in the same habitats. We will create a no-maintenance pet snake to take home. Outside we will continue our snake adventure by searching for snakes and playing a scavenger hunt game. |
|
HABITRACKS: Friday, April 24 Learn the basics of animal habitats while exploring the farm looking for clues of wild animal activity and puzzle pieces. As a group we will construct a large animal habitat puzzle. Create a craft and hear a story – all in a morning down on the farm! |
GENERAL FARM BASED APRIL VACATION 2013 PROGRAM INFORMATION
Each day Vacation Programs start indoors discussing the theme of the day and making a theme related craft to take home before we venture outdoors to explore the grounds on a fun farm adventure. In the spring, depending on the weather we stay outside or head inside to listen to a story and have our snack. The game we play is also either outside or inside depending on the theme and/or weather.
In the classroom, while children are gathering for the program or are finished with their craft or snack before the group is ready to move on, there are interactive tabletop activities that are farm and theme related. These stations usually include an art station, a hands–on feel and touch table with magnifiers, a bird station with binoculars to watch the birds at the feeders, a group puzzle, and a book and joke station.
